Who says you can't go home!!!!!

Hi everyone, it's me Flat Stanley checking in for my final post to the EW Flat Stanley Travels Blog. I'm here at the US Post Office in Tyrone, Georgia. I am about to hop into my envelope so I can be shipped back to my creator, Erin Welling, in Tabernacle, New Jersey. Before I go, I had to grab a picture with the nice Post Office worker. It has been nice traveling around, I hope you all have enjoyed my posts. Before I go, I want to say thank you to Erin for letting me go on this travel adventure and letting me stay with my new family in Tyrone, Georgia, The Wilson's. Erin your cousin is a lot of fun to fly with and his two boys Miles and Michael are so much fun too. Amanda says hi and enjoyed helping your cousin and me with all of the food she packed into my travel cooler. Don't tell your cousin, Mick, but I ate some of his Hershey Kisses without him knowing. The Wilson's told me to tell you that they are looking forward to seeing you soon in Myrtle Beach. Well, it has been fun. I am heading home. Farewell Home Sweet Home

As promised, the unveiling of my home away from home. Flat Stanley here reporting in from my travel cooler home. Like I mentioned in my profile, my home is a travel cooler. This is me in my top compartment. It has been fun flying all over the United States and Canada. I hope you have enjoyed my travels. As I type this, I am making my final preparations to be shipped via the United States Postal Service back to my creator in Tabernacle, New Jersey, Erin Welling. Hi Erin, see you soon....FS

The Wilson's say goodbye to Flat Stanley......

With tears in our eyes, we say goodbye. Flat Stanley has become a part of our family. He has been a great travel companion. Miles, Micheal and Amanda have grown quite fond of having him hang around in our kitchen. As for me, having Flat Stanley accompany me on my many travel adventures has been fun. We have seen many fun and exciting places together and have learned alot about the places we visited. My hope is that you have learned some things about the places we visited too. From the Wilson family to you, may your travel adventures be as much fun as Flat Stanley's and mine.

Hi Erin, and thanks for sharing the story of Flat Stanley with me and allowing me the opportunity to take him to new places to meet new people. I will always remember my time with Flat Stanley. Last day in Tyrone, Georgia

Wow, Flat Stanley here and I'm finishing my travel adventures. I just had an amazing time visiting the town of Tyrone, Georgia. Here I am at the Tyrone city limit sign, can you figure out when the town of Tyrone was established? It is a nice little town about 15 miles south of the big city of Atlanta. Do you know what the capital of Georgia is? Atlanta..thats right. Anyway, I was able to have my picture taken with a Tyrone Police Officer. He even new me. Pretty cool all of the travels that I have made. People know of me all over the world.

Look here, I am at the Tyrone Library. Do you notice anything cool? Its me and the Librarian's holding me and one of my books. And a big thumbs up to the Tyrone EMT's these two guys knew me too. They were glad to take a picture with me. Thanks guys for your service to the community. Overall, my travels with my travel companion have been awesome. I have seen so many new places and met new friends and family. We saw Florida, Canada, New York City, Portland Maine and many other places. I'll be forwarding all of my pictures to Erin so she can show her class. I hope you have enjoyed my blog, talk to you later.... Lobster Anyone? Portland, Maine

Hi friends! Flat Stanley reporting in from Portland, Maine. What a great place. The people here are very friendly, the teperature is cold and the scenery is beautiful. I arrived late at night, but got up early and made some picture stops. I hope you like them. Portland is a really nice city. I stayed downtown right near the harbor. I walked to the harbor to see if I could meet a lobster. Guess what, I did. He was huge and cost $9.99 per pound I had my picture taken with him. I was told that the price goes down as the summer months start to arrive. The harbor is beautiful. All of the boats were there. Some had snow on them still. I was also able to meet some really nice people during my stay in Portland. Here I am with my new friends from the visitors center. Look at me, they are holding me in front of a giant map of the state of Maine. Maine is very big, but has a smaller population than most other states. Do you know what the capital of Maine is? It's not Portland, it is Augusta. Well, I hope you like the new place I visited. Stay tuned....my travels are coming to an end and as I promised, I will be traveling around my current home of Tyrone, Georgia to get a few pictures before I make my travel via the USPS back home to my creator Erin Welling. World Trade Center / Ground Zero

Hi....Flat Stanley at where the World Trade Center once stood. It is only appropriate that we take a few seconds to remember the ones that were lost here on September 11, 2001. It is very apparent the tragedy that occurred, but like President Bush once said, 'We will rebuild." It is amazing at what is being done. The hole in the ground where the towers once stood is enormous, but the construction has begun. New buildings and a memorial are being constructed at a pace of 24 hours a day. A bit of trivia, Do you know who designed the new buildings for the sight? A Georgia Tech Architecture student did...The picture above is of some steps that remained after the towers fell. It was very emotional for me seeing the sight. The outcome of the event has drastically impacted our country as well as the airline industry. My heart goes out to all of the US citizens. Well, must check out Rockefeller center......Hi Erin...

For all you Firemen, FDNY

After we left Time Square, I saw a Fire Station. It was paramount to visit with the fireman. Here I am with one of New York's finest firefighters. I would like to thank the Firemen of the FDNY for there support and service to the city. It is men and women like them that make our country what it is. From here we were headed to Ground Zero.

New York City

Well everyone, Flat Stanley has landed in the Big Apple. After a long flight from Sarasota to New York, we landed the CRJ-700 at LaGuardia International Airport. I had 24 hours to spend in NYC. So I called a friend, Howard Dill. He is an African Methodist Episcopal Preacher. We traveled all over Downtown New York City. Here you can see me driving down Broadway to Time Square. Time Square is the place in the city where everybody gets together each year to celebrate the new year on New Years Eve. If you look close, you will see a lot of NYC Taxi cabs in the pictures. They are everywhere. It is amazing, the air in NYC has a distinct smell. It smells like Hot Dogs. There are venders on every corner selling hot dogs. More pictures to come...............

Florida Coast

Flat Stanley the aviator is on the move. Here I am flying over the Florida Coast. We are at about 4000 ft flying over Tampa, Florida. We flew from Atlanta to Sarasota. It was a nice flight. We landed at Sarasota and did a quick turn to head to New York. Do you remember what a quick turn is? If not scroll down to my previous posts, the answer is in one of them. Happy Easter!

Hi everyone! I'm back....Flat Stanley here...I wanted to say that I hope everybody had a great Easter. Here I am with my new friends, Miles and Michael. We celebrated Easter together in Tyrone, Georgia. Miles is the one holding me and Michael is the little guy on the left. They are Erin Welling's cousins. We had a nice Easter together. We watched a DVD called Passion. It is the one Miles is holding. It is a movie about Jesus Christ and the message and hope that he brought to the world. Anyway I am flying out for another trip so check for updates. Hi Erin.

Crossing the Canadian / US border

Hi Guys!!!! Here I am again in the CRJ700 at 23,000 ft. We were climbing up to 38,000 ft. I had this picture taken from the cockpit as we passed over the Canadian border into the United States of America. I know you can't tell where the border is, but the pilots have maps that show them. We were climbing at a speed of 310 knots. That is 356 miles per hour. It took us 2 hrs and 30 minutes to fly back to Atlanta. I enjoyed Canada, but I'm glad to be back in the deep south. It is warm here right now. Almost 73 degrees Fahrenheit that is the same as 23 degrees Celsius. Here is something of interest..When we were at 38,000 ft, it was -53 degrees outside the airplane. I'm glad I was in the airplane. I know my travel cooler home is cold, but that outside air was really, really cold. Well guys, I have a few days off to rest and relax here in Georgia. I'll be hanging out on the kithchen cabinet until we venture off to another adventure. See you next time.. Hi Erin...

Hanging out with the Canadians at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Hi again..Its me Flat Stanley. I just returned from a trip with my travel companion. We made a quick turn in Jackson, Mississippi. We didn't have time to take a picture, so maybe next time. A quick turn is what the airlines call a trip to a city and then turn the aircraft around to take more passengers to another city. They land, park, take people off the airplane, clean, cater and fuel the airplane, put more passengers on and fly to another city. All of this takes place in about 30 minutes. We flew back to Atlanta and then headed to the frigid Arctic, Montreal, Canada....It was so cold. There was even snow on the ground. The wind was blowing very hard. Even though the weather was not that great, it was a beautiful day to go flying. My travel companion flew the CRJ700 from Atlanta to Montreal. It is really amazing to see the world from the front of the airplane. Instead of looking out the passenger window, I get to see straight ahead. We flew to Canada at 37,000 ft. That is over 6 miles up in the sky. Anyway, while I was in Montreal, Canada I was able to go with my travel companion and his flight crew to the Hard Rock Cafe. We were jammin to 80's music and ate some really good food. I was able to get my picture taken at the Hard Rock. I hope you like them. I really enjoyed Montreal. I had a really difficult time understanding the Canadians. They speak French there. Bonjour they would say, I found out that Bonjour means Hello in French. Did you know that? Also, I learned how to say "Have a nice trip" in French. If you will look at one of the pictures, you will see me next to a sign at the Montreal Airport. That is the sign the passengers see before they get on the airplane to leave Canada. It says " Bon Voyage"... Since Canada is a foreign country, we had to go through US Customs. Customs is where they check to make sure you are a US citizen. I secretly traveled through Customs in my cooler home. I didn't want to get stuck at the border, you see I don't have a US Passport. You have to have one to go in and out of countries around the world. I hope you are enjoying my travel adventures and pictures. I'll keep you posted.......Hi Erin, I'm having a great time. My Travels to Atlanta, Georgia

Hi everyone! I started my travels on March 21st. After a ride from my home in Tabernacle, New Jersey to Philadelphia, I spent my first night with my travel companion at a hotel across the street from the Philadelphia Airport. I didn't get much sleep, because we had an early Duty In. A Duty In is what airline pilots call the time in which they have to report to the airport. It's like the time kids have to be at school. I was very excited. I was able to pass through TSA Security without having to remove my shoes and since my home is my travel companion's travel cooler, I had to go through the x ray machine. It was pretty cool. I could see right through myself as they scanned me. Anyway, before we got on board, my travel companion took me out for a picture. Here I am outside the airplane that we flew on to Atlanta, Georgia. It is called a CRJ700. It has 70 passenger seats and can fly up to 41,000 at a speed of Mach.83...That is almost the speed of sound. Very Fast. The best part, I got to ride in the cockpit. The other picture is of me in the cockpit. I got to push the thrust levers up for takeoff. The thrust levers are those two levers that I'm standing next to. They are what the pilots use to make the airplane go forward and fast. It was really exciting. I hope you like the pictures. Once we got to Atlanta, Georgia. I jumped back into my cozy cooler home and went to stay at my new home in Tyrone, Georgia. I will show some pictures of me in Tyrone in the future. I am looking forward to my next trip.
